I am often asked about sharing the gospel with Muslims. Our church is in a predominantly Muslim area of town and I have spent the last 12 years seeking to reach Muslims with the gospel. We’ve done all manner of different things, some more successfully than others. But I don’t count myself an expert. I have a broad handle on some core Islamic beliefs and bit of understanding of how some of them operate, but it bears saying I am neither a great scholar of Islam nor a dedicated Muslim evangelist. What I do have is a bit of experience reaching some of them and so I am inevitably asked by others how they can reach Muslims too.
What I am going to share with you is one sure fire evangelistic trick. You may know almost nothing about Islam. You might have no experience reaching Muslims. You might not have the first idea about what they think or believe. But I can guarantee this little tool will help you reach Muslims and it is incredibly effective in creating gospel opportunities with them. In a sense this is the silver bullet for reaching Muslims, so I hope you’re ready for it.

Go and speak to Muslim people about Jesus.
That’s it.
Disappointing advice? Maybe. But it is nevertheless the only advice you need. Go to where there are Muslims and speak to them about Jesus. Make some Muslim friends and speak to them about Jesus. Create spaces – whether by events, through shared interests or meeting needs – whereby you can meet Muslim people, speak with them and then tell them about Jesus.
One thing that everybody who works with Muslims will tell you is that they love talking about faith. They love to tell you all about Islam. So, invite them to do that. Ask them about what they believe – that immediately solves your problem of not knowing anything about what they believe. Once they tell you what they believe, find points of commonality and difference with what you believe and share that with them. As you have these discussions, talk about Jesus – no doubt sharing your differing views about him as you go – and then tell them what the Bible says about him.
I have never once struggled to get into conversations about faith with Muslim people. It is exceptionally easy. I have chats on the bus, in taxis, in town, in our dialogue events, when people come and need something from the church, whatever. The only thing you need is a willingness to speak to them. Ask about what they believe, share what you believe and point them to Jesus.
Speaking to them about Jesus is the silver bullet. There is no evangelism without it, nobody is being saved without it, there is no other advice that will be remotely helpful without it. If you want to reach Muslims, go and find some, ask them about what they believe and tell them what you believe. That’s about all there is to it really – what the Lord chooses to do with it is then up to him!

Thanks. This is brilliant, Also the beauty is that many UK Muslims are from cultures that value hospitality. So we can allow them to give hospitality to us/meet our needs. I find the latter easy being a non driver and also generally incompetent at making and fixing things, my Uber driver and many times electrician, handyman etc have been Muslim
