What should we make of Halloween?

I have noticed the Halloween stuff going up in shops. That time of year is nearly upon us. And with it, the Christian handwringing of whether to join in or not has started in earnest too.

I thought about writing something up again, but why re-invent the wheel! To that end, here is an old post I wrote on this back in 2019.

I generally like to run a Light Party. I think it is a good alternative. We have run one almost every year since I have been here. Unfortunately, due to staffing issues at the moment, we couldn’t run one this year or last. Who knows if we will get it up and running again. But if you can’t staff a big one in your church, perhaps you might find yourself in a position to run one in your home for friends and neighbours instead.

Why we prefer a Light Party
