The case for congregationalism

There has been a bit of recent debate on the issue of polity and church governance. By some happenstance, I was preaching on Acts 6 this past Sunday. It is a notable example of a decision taken within the life of the local church that was done a) by calling a meeting of all the disciples together, b) expecting the disciples – as opposed to the apostles – to handle it amongst themselves and, c) taking a collective decision that pleased the whole church.
