500 years since the reformation – what’s the big deal?

Tonight, at Oldham Bethel Church, we will be holding our annual Light Party. It just so happens that Halloween, the Light Party being our alternative, is the same day as Reformation Day. It also just so happens that this year marks 500 years since Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of a church in Wittenburg, lighting the blue touchpaper of the Reformation itself. It also just so happens that our Light Party happily ties in with the Reformation slogan post tenebras lux. Just as the Reformation brought light out of the darkness of distorted Christian religion, so we are offering the light of the gospel amidst the darkness celebrated at Halloween.

So what is the big deal about the Reformation anyway? I have posted this video before but given that today is 500 years since the Reformation began, it seemed worth posting again. We will also be showing it at our Light Party tonight.
