This one offers some helpful counsel.

Don’t Like Labels…Or Commitment?

‘It is interesting that, when it comes to religion, American evangelicals eschew labels when they are quick to identify themselves with lots of other admittedly less important causes. When baseball season rolls around one hears from Cardinal fans, Cub fans, and Yankee fans. I do not know of baseball fans who do not identify with some team. Computer users regularly identify themselves as “PC users” or “Mac users.” Some people like Fords. Others buy only Hondas. If we think about it, we label ourselves almost constantly.’

The Power Of Prayer Meetings

‘One of the purpose of trials, temptations, and struggles is to remind us not to rely on ourselves. There is a God who is strong, whose omnipotent power can reach into the grave and raise the dead.  Trials come into our lives and prick the bubble of our self-reliance. Time and again in our Christian lives we are thrown back on God to know that only the Lord can do it.’

From The Archive: It All Comes Down To The Reliability Of The Bible

‘If there is one issue that I would encourage you to get to grips with, if there is one apologetic question worth pouring your time into, I’m going to suggest it is the reliability of the Bible. There are really two aspects to this question. First, can I trust the Bible? In other words, is what we have today an accurate version of what the early Christians said. Second, why should I trust the Bible? That is, assuming we have an accurate version of what the Apostles and early Christians believed, what ground have we got for believing they were telling the truth.’
